A popular river to fish in the BC Interior is the Kettle River. The Kettle stretches over 290kms from its headwaters in the Monashee Mountains to the confluence of the Columbia River. One of the most popular stretches of this river is the stretch between the West Kettle near Westbridge all the way down to Midway. By far the best way to fish this river is by drifting with a pontoon boat. There are some access points to the river near the road; however drift fishing the Kettle River will provide an angler with the opportunity to discover hidden pools and runs that hold beautiful native Rainbow Trout.
This river stretch not only offers fantastic dry fly fishing, but the scenery is next to none! The water meanders through the valley bottom nestled between ranchlands and forested areas such as subalpine fur and ponderosa pine. In the fall the aspen trees start to change colours and provide a fire orange background for your adventure. The prime time to fish the Kettle River is just after runoff until mid-July and again in September to mid-October. Please be sure to check the regulations for the Kettle River prior to going out fishing as there is specific regs for this fishery.
